Welcome to October! It’s the month of Halloween where we get to dress up as someone else, be creative, silly, express ourselves, put on fun makeup, or wear masks. Do you like to get into the spirit? I do!
All of this fun has gotten me thinking about our identities, how we present ourselves physically in dress, hair, accessories, makeup, our mannerisms, voice, etc. and what that communicates to others. It has a huge effect on our overall leadership styles.
As I’m thinking about this I came across this Shel Silverstein poem which makes the very first point I want to make. The most important thing in presenting yourself as a leader is to be your authentic self…
To be your authentic self means you’ll attract authentic friends, allies, and partners. Now, exactly how you’ll do that will be saved for a future blog post!
