Happy New Year, everyone!

Do you make New Year’s resolutions? Do you keep them or do you forget about them by Valentine’s Day? Maybe that depends on what the resolution is?

If you’re into New Year’s resolutions, that’s great! It’s a wonderful time to set and accomplish goals. If you’re not into it but you want to be (you make resolutions year-after-year but never accomplish them), perhaps you could change your tactic.

Do you have a bucket list? A list of things you want to accomplish in your lifetime? I don’t necessarily mean a written one. There are probably things you’ve dreamed or talked about doing, like maybe:

  • Travel to Australia
  • Graduate with a 4.0 gpa or higher
  • Get something you wrote published
  • Enter an art competition
  • Learn how to play chess
  • Read every Jane Austen book
  • Go to Comic-Con

Whatever you want to do in life, whatever your dreams are, they’re exciting to think pexels-photo-24175about, right? Well go ahead and craft your New Year’s resolutions around those dreams, those bucket-list items. Pick a couple and write down what you can actually do this year to make it happen. How much more, and which subjects do you need to study to raise your gpa? Figure out when you’ll squeeze it in. How much money do you need to get to Australia or Comic-Con? Pick up an extra job or determine what you’ll give up so you can save money every month. Decide how much time you’ll set aside every week for reading, writing, learning chess, or creating your art.

Use this time to focus on what you want to do and who you want to be, if only because there’s no better time than right now! Follow your dreams. If not now, then when?
